Lighting Understudy

Having a strong passion for lighting in the theatre setting, Ann has actively sought out experiences to deepen her skills and broaden her understanding of the craft.

Beautiful Oops! at Gateway Theatre

During Bump-In Week, Ann observed how classroom theories were applied in a real-world setting and listened in on discussions about design choices and their impacts, which helped her better understand both the artistic and technical sides of lighting design.

Key information such as the magic sheet and the list of available gobos was kept on hand to follow how the Lighting Technician communicated and made decisions throughout the process.

Ann also observed how the existing system was used at the venue and how the Lighting Designer and Technician worked within its capabilities and limitations, including considerations like fixture colour temperatures and their typical applications.

RP Orientation Programme: Jam and Hop

Participated in RP's Orientation Programme, experiencing performances by top CREATE Club talent and gaining a deeper appreciation for diverse artistic expressions.

Worked with lighting technicians and the designer to understand programming and stage lighting, then operated lights during the school performances, cue timing for a smooth show.

Assisted with setup and teardown of the lighting system, gaining hands-on experience in hard patching and cable management, and enhancing my technical skills.
